Personal Trainer Wanted to Support the Growth of a
Flourishing Training Business in Rowlett
Apply Below IF...

You're a Hard-Working, Motivated, Client Focused Trainer (or Soon-to-be Trainer) who Loves Fitness, Always Wants to Know More, and Wants to Grow as a Coach.

(No seriously, if your a coach (or soon-to-be) who loves hard workouts and total body transformations this is for YOU!)
Personal Trainer Wanted for Part-Time Work Developing & Coaching Group and Small Group Sessions at Rowlett Transformation Center.

Hello!

My name is Travis Merritt, owner of Rowlett Transformation Center. For the past 6+ years, our business has been educating, motivating, and inspiring our Members to have total body transformations and to become the best version of themselves through our training, nutrition and lifestyle programs.

Over the last couple year's we've had tremendous growth, and it's come time for us to bring on some additional help to get to the "next level." It's our goal to help thousands of Rowlett area residents look, feel and perform their best. To do this, we need a strong supporting cast, which includes a SOLID Personal Trainer who is committed to helping our Members be successful.

Quite frankly, we need someone who is a rock star coach (you need to bring the best out of people) AND loves working with SMALL (think of no more than six people at a time) and LARGER GROUPS at a time.

As for certifications and previous experience; you do NOT need to be a 20+ year veteran trainer like me or have an alphabet soup of letters after your name if you're a self-motivated person who loves to learn about fitness and all things training.

I can develop your training skills (a nationally recognized certification is preferred but NOT required to apply) but... I can't fix a lousy personality - you need to be great with people.

SO, ARE YOU OUR NEXT TEAM MEMBER?
The RTC Moral Compass
(you will want to read this part)
We at RTC operate by a set of standards that are 'different' than most gyms, personal training studios, and fitness centers. You may know these by the common term of Core Values, but I call this our Moral Compass.

Basically, this is our guiding principles on how we, and our members, conduct themselves inside our walls. It's the compass that guides the decisions we make and the life that we want to live and help other's live.

These 4 principles are what RTC is built on...

1. Leave drama, negativity, gossip at the door.
What is means: Postive mindset only, leave the days negativity outside. RTC is a mental vacation, it's a detox of the day, a place where the mood is light, positive and uplifting.

What it doesn't mean: Airing out your dirty mental laundry, everyone's got problems so leave yours at the door. No 'stirring the pot' and no causing agitation or trouble. This is NOT a place of cliques, circles, and definitely not a place that I want anyone to feel the need to be guarded for fear of being judged.

2. Be better than your yesterday
What it means: Have a 'never settle' attitude so you're always striving for improvement. Focus on doing more than the last workout. Embraces and seek challenges to always reach new levels of performance in the gym and in life.

What it doesn't mean: Accepting mediocrity, doing the same thing as you did the last workout, avoiding situations that challenge and change you.

3. Respect and be supportive of other's journey
What it means: Respect where everyone is at and where everyone is striving to go, support them in THEIR goals and challenges, celebrate all the wins with them.

What it doesn't mean: Holding others to YOUR measure of success, belittling a person's victories and criticize their journey.

"It's easy to look at people and make quick judgments about them, their present and their past, but you'd be amazed at the pain and tears a single smile hides. What a person shows to the world is only one tiny facet of the iceberg hidden from sight. And more often then not, it's lined with cracks and scars that go all the way to the foundation of their soul."
— Sherrilyn Kenyon

4. Accepting responsibility for what you can change.
What it means: You have extreme ownership of the situation, you accept that you have control over your destiny and you take charge of change.

What it does not mean: Placing blame on others, living in denial and always evad responsibility to pass along to someone/thing else.

If those 4 sound like a moral code that your in alignment with then keep reading :-)

What is Required to be an RTC Trainer

Creativity and flexibility are a must! In addition, we're looking for someone with the following RTC traits
  • Flexibility/adaptability. You can adjust quickly to changing priorities and conditions and be comfortable changing and modifity exercises and movements for differnet individuals.
  • Enthusiasm. You should LOVE this and exhibit passion and excitement over your role here.
  • Work ethic. Possesses a strong willingness to work hard and sometimes longer than nessesary hours to get the job done.
  • High standards. Expects personal performance and team performance to be nothing short of the best. Don't settle.
  • Openness to critiques and ideas. You should be comfotable with other coaches coaching you to be a better coach without taking the advice personal.
  • Communication. You can speak and write clearly and articulately without being overly verbose or talkative.
  • Teamwork. Your not alone, this is a team of people that all have their roles and you must be comfortable and thrive in a team enviorment.
  • Persuasion. Able to convince members to pursue a course of action... such as new weights and PRs.

Having worked for a few "big box" gyms in my past (with accomplishments including being the top selling trainer, a company leading department head, and the guy responsible for trainer development), I have an inside knowledge of the benefits they provide, as well as the aspects of the job that a lot of personal trainers hate - like 100% commission, sales quotas, closeout, no life, the push from people above to always get leads, etc.

Working with us will be a bit different...

Naturally, slackers will not be tolerated. However, you're not measured by sales performance, but instead by Member RETENTION and Member REVIEWS. Basically, if our Members like you and want to keep working out with us, you make more money.

As for sales quotas and monhtly sales closeouts, they don't exist. You get base salary AND the opportunity to increase it - as the business grows you get rewarded.

We're all about WIN-WIN-WIN (as we help more members, the company grows, and you get raises!).

Oh, and plus I FIND THE CLIENTS, it's not required for you to hunt for clients; though it does help you if you do. I will do the hunting, you just have to train the heck out of them, and make sure they get great results, the rest... I got you.

If you are hired for this position you will follow a set schedule - we train people when they're not at work (early mornings, mid-mornings afternoons/evenings), but that's pretty standard in the industry.

IMPORTANT NOTE: WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN SOMEONE WHO IS JUST LOOKING FOR SOMETHING SHORT-TERM OR WANTS TO OPEN HIS/HER OWN BUSINESS IN A YEAR OR TWO! WE'RE LOOKING FOR A DEDICATED TEAM MEMBER WITH A LONG-TERM VISION WHO WILL STRIVE FOR GROWTH/LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN OUR GROWING COMPANY...

Your Primary Objective:

To create Transformational Experiences for those in their 30's to 50's to get them to look, feel, and be in the best shape of their lives.

The Outcomes We are Looking For:
  • 75% Trial to member conversion rate - When a member comes on board during a short them trial or challenge we want you to deliver such a great service that every 3 out of 4 people that try out RTC decide to stay and call RTC their home for the duration of their transformational experience.
  • 95% Retention Rate - We want our members to stay for the long haul. As you know getting in the best shape of your life doesn't happen in just 6 weeks or even 6 months, this is a journey that takes time (years in some cases) and your role to make sure they stay and continue to progress to their goals.
  • Obtain 1 member referral a month - Help our team become so good that members can't help but brag about how awesome we are. People will always refer great service and experiences, be apart of that reason.
  • Obtain 1 member success story a month - Members are here for us to help them get in the best shape of their lives, they are here to change their life. Your role is to just that... help them succeed in changing their life. Each month we want you to help someone to reach a new level of success that we can share and help inspire other's that change is possible.
  • 85% of members achieve 1 goal per month. - Each member that we have here has 1-3 goals each month that they need to achieve. This can range from losing 'x' pounds to working out 'y' amount of time, your role (if hired) is to help members set monthly goals and achieve them.

Minimum Required Performance Responsibilities:
  • Screening - Perform initial functional movement screens and follow-up assessments as necessary.
  • Provide Great Service to Our Members - Make them feel incredibly welcome, coach them on how to use our various systems to their advantage, track progress, track attendance, follow-up & check-in phone calls, celebrate wins, anniversaries, birthdays.
  • Lead Training Sessions - Competently & confidentially explain the routine & exercises at the beginning of each session, provide individualized coaching to everyone throughout the course of the workout, correct form as needed, but be sure to recognize good form as well, adjust weights, provide spots, engage the group as a whole, and still be present for each individual
  • Facility Maintenance - Help maintain a clean training environment. Even though we do operate a small gym, some daily maintenance is still required.

Bonus Skills:
  • Writing. We provide a lot of education to our Members through our blog, print newsletter, and e-newsletter. Opportunities may be available for you to provide content to showcase your expertise.
  • Research Nerd. Yes there really isn't a way to define this, I know, but if you read and stay up to date with some of the bleeding edge of fitness programming and information this will help. To give you and idea if you are familiar and follow people such as: Mike Robertson, T-Nation (hey, they do have some great articles), Eric Cressy, Kelley Starrett, just to name a few.
  • Social Media. We utilize Facebook and YouTube to help deliver and showcase our solutions to people's problems. Being comfortable in front of a camera (this can take time), be comfortable writing, demonstrating and showcasing solutions (think exercises, movements, etc...) is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits::
  • 10 hours per week (Mon-Thurs afternoon early evenings) with a base hourly pay (with the possibility of more hours and higher base pay) paid every Friday.

I understand that you may be in a position in your life that's all you want to do; there are positions out there that will fulfill just that need. This position here at RTC isn't one of those. But...

Owner Rowlett Transformation Center

P.S. - This is NOT a corporate type of structure job. We are entrepreneurial small business owners. This is not the type of job where just showing up is enough. Rowlett Transformation Center is everything to the team and I - It’s our livelihood and our passion.

We want nothing more than to find a person who takes real interest in doing GREAT work and contributing to the growth of changing lives. This position will grow into something bigger and better for the RIGHT person. We still have much we want to accomplish - MANY MORE LIVES TO IMPACT -

With all that said, enthusiasm and a positive attitude go long way in my book. As long as you have the basic skills I outlined above and a great attitude, you’re definitely a candidate!

P.P.S. - Time is of the essence here. For one, we need to move quickly to get someone in place. If you are truly interested, MAKE SURE YOU APPLY RIGHT AWAY.
